Roaring Camp: First Call

Captain's Corner

First: a big thank you to everyone who came out to Mariposa.  We engaged in two hand-to-hand scenarios with the CS Marines, drank a ton of water, had a phenomenal twilight battle, and generally had a great time.  Several people had to sit out because of the heat, but generally everyone held up well.  I have a little leftover water which I'll bring to Roaring Camp.  Also, thanks to Billy for sending in this fantastic photo of the cavalry rescuing our national colors:

(Fun fact: the 69th NY is still an active unit, and our flag has never been captured.  Ever.)

Speaking of, it's time to RSVP for the most charming reenactment of the year.  Where else are you going to find a real working steam train and town to go with it?  Not to mention skirmishing atop Bear Mountain.  (Perfect time to brush up on our skirmishing tactics!)  Unlike Mariposa, the weather will be lovely, with plenty of shade.

Please RSVP now; the event is only a few weeks away.
